Description

Moroccan security forces and police reportedly intervened with force to disperse a demonstration on March 23, 2013 in El Aaiun.

The police and security forces in official uniforms and plainclothes used batons and sticks to disperse the demonstrators, leaving more than 30 demonstrators wounded, including human rights advocates. The demonstration procession began on Smara avenue and continued to Neggir square. It was organized during the visit of UN envoy Christopher Ross to the region.
